Nigeria: Who to look out for at GTBank Fashion Weekend Lagos

Its that time of the year again! GTBank Fashion Weekend will happen on 11-12 November in Lagos.  A cast of internationally renowned designers will showcase the  season’s best collections in the world of fashion.

Here is the rundown of who to expect at GTBank Fashion Weekend:

Tracy Reese owns 3 fashion brands; Tracy Reese, Plenty by Tracy Reese, and Plenty Dresses by Tracy Reese. She was inducted into the Council of Fashion Designers of America, where she currently serves on the board of directors. Reese has dressed the liked of Michelle Obama, and Gabrielle Union.

Lanre Da-Silva Ajayi has been featured couple of times in top magazines like Vogue and she was the first African designer to have her label stocked at the Dolce & Gabbana Concept Store in Milan, Italy.

Taibo Bacar who left his training behind as an IT specialist, to start his own clothing line in 2008 will be there. He was awarded Emerging Designer of the Year at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Africa 2012.

Ituen Basi has built a reputation for creating new and exciting designs inspired by old couturiers. She was awarded  ‘Designer of the Year’ at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in South Africa.

Mimi Plange launched her own label in 2010. She is known for combining African Victorian fashion aesthetics. Her clients include; Michelle Obama, Viola Davis and Serena Williams.

Meena started her very own Nigerian women’s wear label and in February 2016. She was among the designers chosen to represent Nigeria at the International Fashion Showcase by British Fashion Council.
