Sudanese woman sentenced to death for marrying a Christian is freed

Meriam Ibrahim gave birth to a baby girl in prison on 27 May 2014We are happy to report that Meriam Ibrahim has regained her freedom.

A few weeks ago we urged you to sign a petition for her release as Meriam had been sentenced to 100 lashes for adultery and death for apostasy.

After the international uproar, a court in Khartoum has now ordered her release. Her release however is bitter-sweet as she still cannot return to the comfort and familiarity of her own home. Meriam and her family have received several death threats and because of the fear for their safety, they have been moved to a safehouse.

We wish them well. We pray for the the day when unconditional love for humankind will be at the heart of every religion so that we can all just be and let each other be. Amin. Amen.
