This year I finally attended the Women 4 Africa awards ceremony for the first time even though I have been following it closely since its inception. Truth is I have an issue with Award ceremonies and I do not believe that they always reflect the best. However I am by default a supporter of anything that uplifts the African woman so I was there.
GoWoman Magazine was also in attendance as a Media Partner. We had profiled all the nominees in the build up to the event and we were also supposed to hand out an award on the night but someone somewhere must have forgotten to call out our name. I wrote my thoughts on how the evening went HERE. And now the categories for 2015 have been released and it seems someone somewhere listened as there are far fewer categories.
However, naturally I believe there is one category missing: Media Publication of the Year or maybe even African Woman Magazine of the Year and what about Blogger of the Year? The storytellers amongst us need to be applauded and awarded too. If not for “us” who will know about us? I guess I will have to make do with Media Personality of the Year.
I am excited about next year’s event and I hope to be there again, expecting to see growth while chilling in the midst of excellence. African women rock! May the best women win. Nominate a GoWoman you know now and please THINK before you nominate. GoWomen with proven track records please….
