Meet Facebook Africa Boss Woman Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke

This week Facebook announced the opening of its first office on the African continent and appointed Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke of Ogilvy & Mather SA as its boss.

Ms. Ntshingila-Njeke holds an MBA from Morgan State University and a BA from the University of Swaziland. She also has a Diploma in Advertising from AAA School of Advertising.

Prior to her appointment to Facebook she served as the head of Ogilvy & Mather’s efforts in South Africa and in the rest of the continent. She is one of 30 global advertising executives on the company’s board.

“She has been a Director of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Inc. since January 2011. She has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of Transnet SOC Limited, since May 2006. Ms. Njeke served as a Director of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company (South Africa) Limited from September 18, 2007 to May 28, 2009. She served on the Boards of the Media Development & Diversity Agency and the V&A Waterfront. In 2007, she was awarded the Financial Mail/Ad Focus Agency Leader of the Year award and was also one of the five women to be nominated as Business Woman of the Year. She serves as the Chairman of Ogilvy South Africa (Proprietary) Limited.”  (Bloomberg)

She will leave Ogilvy in August to start work at Facebook Africa in September.
