GoWoman Magazine will mark International Women’s Day 2014 at these events in Ghana, and USA

This March we mark over 100 years of Women’s Day observance across the world and 36 years since the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed that every March 8 be recognized as the UN Day for Women’s Rights.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day which is decided every year by UNESCO is “Equality for Women is Progress for All”, a conference will be held to this affect on March 7th in the Netherlands. West African women in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and in the diaspora are also marking  International Women’s Day and the month with events and activities.

AWDF OUR VOICES Flyer International Womens Day Ghana 2014Alliance Francaise Accra will host OUR VOICES: Breaking Boundaries, Creating Change a forum to share women’s stories of leadership and “change creation”. There will be music, dance, and discussion.

Zonta Club of Accra will mark International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day with a panel discussion on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the effect on the advancement of women’s status in Ghana. Date: Friday March 7 2014 Venue: Flair Catering Services Ltd. 6 Joseph Tito Avenue, Switch Back Road. Alldens Lane Women Mean Business International Womens Day 2014

Vlisco – The originator of Java African prints is marking International Women’s Month with the month long “Dare to Dream” campaign intended to celebrate women from West and Central Africa who “have the faith and courage to realize their dreams”. Nollywood actress Stephanie Okereke-Linus is the brand ambassador for the campaign.
