Shirley Frimpong-Manso the most renowned woman behind the camera in Ghana says that she has used her position as a writer, producer and director to give women more dynamic roles in African film.

She says that African films way back when limited women to stereotypical submissive roles. They were not a reflection of her real life experience where she was surrounded by strong African women. Since she entered the industry some 6 years ago, her goal has been to change the way women are portrayed in film.
