Correct Guy | Idris Elba lends his voice to the #EndEbolaNow campaign

Man becomes great when he works for the welfare of his fellow-men. – Gandhi

For every GoWoman, there is a “Correct Guy”; a stand up guy who does the right thing. A man who dreams of change, then wakes up to seize the right moment to make it happen.

Idris Elba, Correct Guy by way of London, Sierra Leone and Ghana has added his voice to the #EndEbolaNow campaign.

In a video which is part of a crowdsourced film that was sent to world leaders at the UN General Assembly, he asks world leaders to take urgent action to put an end to the current crises which has claimed up to 2600 lives.

“I want to live in a world where we come together and fight a health crisis together,” he said in a video message to the Social Good Summit audience. “I want to be in a world where we can fight and cure and add solutions for something like Ebola. It’s hugely important that we do it, and it’s hugely important that we do it now.”

You can add your voice too by signing this petition by One.Org, telling world leaders: Make bold commitments and help end the Ebola crisis now!

ONE is an international campaigning and advocacy organization of nearly 6 million people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa… because the facts show extreme poverty has already been cut in half and can be virtually eliminated by 2030, but only if we act with urgency now.

Cofounded by Bono, we raise public awareness and work with political leaders to combat AIDS and preventable diseases, increase investments in agriculture and nutrition, and demand greater transparency so governments are accountable to their citizens. ONE does not raise money itself to build schools, hospitals and the like, but does its work by advocacy and campaigning so that government funds continue to flow to programs that make a difference in people’s lives. ONE works closely with African activists and policymakers as they fight corruption, promote poverty-fighting priorities, monitor the use of aid, and help build civil society and economic development. ONE’s work is strictly politically non-partisan.
