Business Spotlight | Yvette Ansah of Fresh Bites

I am boss of Fresh Bites, a salad company – making healthy food accessible to those looking for fresh food options.

I have been a boss for almost 2 years.

My journey to becoming my own boss happened like this: I moved back to Ghana and was looking for healthier on-the-go alternatives to our delicious but hefty and calorific local dishes. I did some research, saw the gap in the market and that is how Fresh Bites was born.

Biggest difference between working for someone else and being your own boss is the sense of responsibility. You own the whole outfit and the buck stops with you. You are accountable for your employees, to your customers, to your support network. This is your baby and there is definitely a greater sense of “This is mine. I need to own it and make it work”.

If I could change one thing about my boss life I would… stop micro-managing, learn to relax and trust myself more.

My Go Woman boss tip to others who want to B Y O B is: Just do it! There is never going to be a “perfect” time to start your own business, so believe in yourself, and just go do what you must do to get your dream business going. And once you do start, go all out. Throw yourself, 150 %, into making your business a success!
